Below you will find details of a few good car hire firms. I have either used these firms personally or have friends and clients that have. I have negotiated discounts with a couple for anyone that mentions 'TheTravelBug' and my name when reserving a car.

HireMyCarBg -  "Hire My Car" is located in Sofia the capital of Bulgaria , near the central part of the town. With a number of cars, that cover several groups of rental categories.  All TheTravelBug customers get a 10% discount from the rental price and free delivery/collection to / from an address/hotel for contracts over 5 days only for Sofia in working hours. Note that this does not include delivery/collection to/from the airport.

TsTravel - Car hire from Burgas airport, for Sunny Beach, Varna airport, Sofia and Plovdiv. Minimum age of drivers is 23 years old and have 2 years driving experience. Sofia Rentals

SikonGroup - Cars range from 14 to 17 Euros a day (depending on how long you rent the car for) for a small Renault type up to 34 Euros a day for larger car with A/C etc. You get free maps and all required insurance and a free child seat if required. Can have two named drivers so long as each has at least 1 year driving experience. Need a valid passport and valid international licence (photo card license). Burgas

Bulim Ltd - Cars from around 30 Euros a day but all new cars with all mod cons. Full third party insurance. Drivers must be at least 21 years old and been driving for at least 2 years.     ###   5% discount on stated prices for TheTravelBug visitors.   ###

Plovdiv

Car hire can also be arranged from Plovdiv airport if required.

Driving Service

A good friend runs an excellent service (used many times myself when I was just exploring the country and had yet to be brave enough to hire a car!) where she will pick you up from the airport (usually Sofia), arrange accommodation for the night as required and then drive you around Bulgaria - to see property, to visit your property, sort out furniture, services or maybe just taken in some of the many sites and tourist attractions.
