The region just north of Chirpan, in the mountains generally referred to as the Chirpan Elevations there are some very pretty villages and the area is stunningly beautiful. For this reason it is starting to become popular with British and Irish buyers. Most villages are only 10 to 20km from the new Sofia to Burgas motorway and the town of Chirpan. In the most parts, the roads to the villages are fine until you get slightly deeper into the hills and then you have to start pot hole dodging!

There are many small tarns in the area for fishing and it is a great place to go walking & cycling. It is very quiet and peaceful, yet the city of Plovdiv is only around a 40 minute drive away, Stara Zagora is about 55km away and Chirpan is only a short drive.

Partly Renovated Traditional Style House

This old traditional style house, is situated at the end of the village and is close to the oldest monastery in Europe. The monastery is only a 15 minute walk away. The house is 120 years old and is in a secluded area of the village.

It has two floors. Going up the external concrete steps you reach a lovely terrace with great views across the valley and village. There is a room to the left which has been renovated with two stone walls exposed, which have been lime mortared and the other two walls have been rendered. This massive building is being advertised for auction. It is a former school building and has 3 floors. The two main floors each have wide corridors with 8 large rooms off this and 2 smaller rooms at either end that were bathrooms. The rooms are massive and could be divided. There are internal stairs.

There is also a basement with hall and 2 or 3 smaller rooms.

The school comes with 12,000sqm of land and has amazing views from the top floor.

But it requires complete and total renovation - all new plasterwork both internally and externally, new roof, new wiring, plumbing, new windows and so on. Commission is usually 500 Euros or 3% of purchase price, which ever is higher, and is payable both by the seller and the buyer.
