Red Brick 2 Bedroom House For Rent

This is a lovely 2 bedroomed house situated in a quiet village about 11km off the main road from Stara Zagora through to Plodiv and Sofia. It is perched on a small hill with good views over surrounding fields yet only a 2 minute walk from train station. The train station is a main junction and so you can pretty much get the train to anywhere in Bulgaria from here. There is a regular bus service to Stara Zagora also. It is about a 30 minute drive from the city, although the road is rather bumpy in places and 20 minutes on the train.

Downstairs, which is accessed through an old glass 'conservatory' with an indoor sink, there are two rooms, one with exposed stone walls and an old open fire place and concrete floor, the second is smaller but with plastered walls. The second floor is accessed by external stone stairs and there are two decent sized rooms and a utility room from one bedroom.

Behind the house there is a large plot of 1,900 sqm and to the side a small area with vines and a few fruit trees.

Here is a short video clip of the house.  I have left the sound in to give you an idea of how lovely and peaceful the area is apart from the occasional cock crowing. Ignore the rabbits at the end, couldn't figure out how to delete that scene! The rabbits were actually in a barn at my forth property.

I first viewed this property in October 2005 and my friend bought a house on the other side of this village. However, again it was the opposite side of the city to my other properties and so ummed and ahhed about it for ages.

There was a fair amount of interest in the property but it was still for sale in March 2006 and so after spending a week viewing various other properties I decided to offer the seller the 5,200 Euros he had initially agreed to sell at. However, he was then approached by another agent who said he could get him much more for it and so he asked me for more money (6,400 Euros). I was not about to get into the situation where the price kept going up and up so we settled on 6,150 Euros and that I would allow the seller to remain in the property for a couple of months after completion.

June 2006: Purchase now complete. Glad I bought this now as becoming quite a little up and coming village with motorway junction nearby and train station.

January 2007: Currently trying to sort out electric account as old owner left fairly large bill and I have applied to electric company (EVN) for this to be wiped clean. The manager of the head office here in Stara Zagora has not even bothered to answer my application. I am considering writing to the head office in Austria to make an official complaint.

I do not intend to do anything with this property for now and will look to sell it in the next year or so, depending on the market.

February 2008: Visited this property for first time in a long while. Glad to say all seemed ok apart from door to conservatory was open and does not shut properly but managed to prop it shut. Partly a good job it was unlocked and open as I have no keys for the property as was not given any when agent completed on this house. Guess old guy just left with keys and leaving huge electric bill! Could only see upstairs through windows but looked dry and in good condition. Overall house in good condition and not deteriorate at all really in year and half since it has been empty.

May 2008: Visited house again with potential tenant (see http://www.therentalbug.com). Conservatory door again wide open. Downstairs needs some serious cleaning and renovating as basement level and a little damp. Floor in one room rather rotten in places and with door being open, swallows have colonised one room! Managed to get into upstairs through window as will need to force door open. Upstairs dry and in good condition, apart from spiders webs! Although old guy seems to have just ripped light sockets from ceiling so wiring rather dodgy!

AVAILABLE FOR RENT: This house is available for rent for those looking for a base while they find a property for themselves or renovate a house in the area or simply for a rural, peaceful get away for the summer. It offers no real luxuries as there is only an outside toilet but if that did not put you off, then you can rent this two bedroom house with field behind for just 100 levs/mth (around 50 E/mth) including utility bills. However, it is not in great condition downstairs and need to somehow force door open to upstairs. The house requires a fair amount of work. The places needs rewiring as well as general tidying and door repair as explained. Large plot though and lovely village and good connections via train. Only outside loo. No furniture.

FREE RENTAL FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT IT if you are prepared to do DIY and renovation work like re-wiring, plastering basement type room, sorting out fire place, repairing/renewing conservatory, - internal decoration, repairing and painting window frames etc. Needs to be someone with renovation experience and not phased by current conditions. Would just require say 20 levs (10 Euros/mth) for utility bills.

Maybe someone wanting a place to call home for 6 months to a year could first tidy up house in Kosarevets to live in and then sort out this house. I am open to options and suggestions and could maybe offer small amount of remuneration to someone helping to renovate this house. I would of course pay for any materials required.
